SA: Police raid bikers, find rocket launcher among weapons
ADELAIDE, April 9 AAP - A rocket launcher, an elephant foot and a crocodile head were
among items seized by police during an unprecedented raid on biker gangs in Adelaide today.
Police simultaneously raided 36 houses occupied by members of six biker gangs in metropolitan
Adelaide this morning, South Australian Police Commissioner Mal Hyde said.
He said 44 people were arrested or reported as a result of the raids carried out by 300 police.
Commissioner Hyde said more than 200 cannabis plants were seized as well as 10 kilograms
of dried cannabis.
Also seized were an inert rocket launcher, a machine gun, hand grenades, hand guns
and shotguns, he said.
Detective Inspector Tony Harrison said the raids also uncovered illegal animal imports
including a crocodile's head and an elephant's foot.
The gangs targeted in the raids were the Hell's Angels, the Rebels, the Gypsy Jokers,
the Finks, the Descendants and the Bandidos, Commissioner Hyde said.
